Why AXIS came about

Many injuries in youth football do not occur suddenly.
They develop over weeks or months – through growth, increasing training load and small functional weaknesses that often go unnoticed in everyday training.
During my time in competitive football, I experienced firsthand how difficult it is to identify such risks early on.
Through my scientific work in biomedicine and my work in the field of data analysis, I realized:
Many of these risks can be make measurable.
AXIS was created from the idea of combining sports medicine insights, practical football experience and structured analysis.
Not to "measure" players.
But rather to To give coaches, players and parents a clear assessment of resilience.

THE PERSON BEHIND AXIS

Dr. Jürgen Walther

PhD in Biomedicine
Players in all Youth Bayernliga Teams (U15–U19)
Active player in the 4th League (FV 04 Würzburg)
Experience as youth coach
Data and video analyst at FV 04 Würzburg
Lead Data Scientist at Knauf with a focus on data analysis and AI
Lectures and presentations on Data analysis and AI in football
Ongoing engagement with sports medicine

This combination shapes AXIS' approach:
Measurement data should not only be collected –
they must to be interpreted in an understandable way and translated into training.

Medical basis

Sports medicine classification

AXIS works closely with sports medicine specialists.
The tests and interpretations are based on current findings from sports medicine, stress research and injury prevention in youth sports.
The goal is a realistic assessment of players' resilience, which can support coaches in making training decisions.

Our approach

The AXIS Philosophy

AXIS is based on a simple principle:
Resilience in football can not only be observed – it can be measured. Understand more structured information and classify it better.
The following principles shape how the analyses are conducted and interpreted.

Recognize earlier instead of reacting later

Many injuries are preceded by minor functional deficits.

Support training, do not replace it

The analysis provides guidance for coaches – it does not replace training work.

Practical and easy to understand

Tests must be quick to perform and comprehensible for players, parents and coaches.

Interested in an analysis?

AXIS is aimed at players, parents and clubs who think consciously and with a long-term perspective about training and development in football.
